Vistara has signed up for Aero In-Flight Communication (IFC) services launched by NELCO and Panasonic and would be the first domestic airline company to launch IFC services in April 2020.
Speaking to DigiAnalysys, Vinod Kannan, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata SIA Airlines said, “We are taking delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliner in March 2020. The paper work, regulatory and commercial approval will get completed in March-April timeframe.”
Initially, the plan is to provide IFC services in the international market and launching IFC services in the domestic market is still in the discussion stage added Kannan.
Vistara operates domestic and international services for cities such as Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo and Kathmandu and IFC services will be launched in all the international cities in a phased manner.
IFC services will give Vistara an edge with others and can be used for enhancing passenger experience, driving passenger loyalty, opening up additional onboard revenue streams and optimizing flight operations. In future, the services can be also used for maintenance of the aircraft.
Regarding pricing of IFC services, Vistara has not yet finalised the pricing and will reveal its pricing closer to the launch date in April 2020.
