The amendments made by the US Department of Commerce to its foreign direct product rule that target Huawei will impact the expansion, maintenance, and continuous operations of networks rolled out in more than 170 countries says Huawei.
Huawei categorically opposes the amendments made by the US Department of Commerce to its foreign direct product rule that target Huawei specifically.
This decision was arbitrary and pernicious, and threatens to undermine the entire industry worldwide, says Huawei spokesperson.
“This decision by the US government does not just affect Huawei but will have a serious impact on a wide number of global industries. In the long run, this will damage the trust and collaboration within the global semiconductor industry which many industries depend on, increasing conflict and loss within these industries,” says Huawei.
Huawei hopes that its customers and suppliers will continue to stand with the company and minimize the impact of this discriminatory rule.
President Donald Trump has extended the ban of Huawei for another year i.e. May 2021 as this was planned to expire on May 15, 2020. Huawei ban is as per the executive order which talks about declaring a national emergency and barring US companies from using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment used by firms posing a national security risk to the country.
