Sunil Bharti Mittal appointed Honorary Chair of ICC

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) today announced that Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises will step down as the ICC Chair and will assume the role of Honorary Chair commencing July 1, 2018.

Mittal will be succeeded by Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever as ICC Chairman and Ajay Banga, President & CEO MasterCard as the next ICC First Vice-Chair.

Commenting on the leadership change, ICC Secretary General John W. H. Denton said, “Sunil’s business acumen and leadership on some of the most pertinent business issues of our time have resulted in significant milestones for ICC, extending our reach and influence and making business work for everyone, everywhere. I now look forward to building on these achievements when he assumes the role of ICC Honorary Chair.”

Commenting on his eventful tenure, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Honorary Chairman, ICC said, “As Chair of one of the world’s largest business organisations representing private-sector views before national governments and intergovernmental bodies around the world, it has been a pleasure to lead and play a constructive role in giving shape to the voice of global business to support inclusive growth.
