Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL), a leading digital networks player has bagged a large FTTH order from Reliance Jio.
Reliance Jio is ramping up its JioFiber or FTTH services to address pent up demand due to COVID-19 pandemic as focus is on broadbanding homes for applications like virtual classes, work from home (WFH) and tele-health. Jio has opted for three tier strategy – standardised design, end-to-end automation tools and trained feet on street (own as well as partners) for faster rollout.
As per the order, STL will speed up FTTH rollout in the northern region and focus is on providing end to end services in terms of network design, survey, installation and commissioning.
STL continues to strengthen the Make in India 5G ecosystem by creating the Next-Gen Digital Network by bringing together four specialised technological confluences – Wired and wireless; Software and hardware; Connectivity and compute; and open source – all at the edge of the network.
During the first quarter result ended June 30, 2020, STL had announced a strong cumulative order book of Rs. 10,300 crore and the company is proud of its role in upgrading and maintaining the digital lifeline for its customers.
Speaking at the 43rd Annual General Meeting, Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited said, “In the next three years, I can see a strong path for Jio to connect over half a billion mobile customers; over a billion smart sensors; and over 50 million homes and business establishments.”
Reliance Jio has till date completed one million FTTH connections and plans are to connect over 50 million homes and business establishments by 2023.
