Digital India has taken a prime seat during Corona times as in the month of July 2020, almost 3 lakh crore rupees have been transacted from BHIM UPI alone says Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 74th Independence Day.
One Nation – One Ration Card, One Nation – One Tax, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and Merger of Banks is the reality of the country today, said Modi.
“Amid COVID-19 pandemic, 130 crore Indians took the resolve to be self-reliant, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat is on the mind of India. This dream is turning into a pledge. Apart from Make in India, we must also embrace the mantra of Make for World,” said Modi.
BharatNet Project has been extended to accommodate all villages in the country. “In the last five years, 1.5 lakh gram panchayats in the country have been connected with optical fiber and in the coming 1,000 days all 6 lakh villages in the country will be connected with optical fiber,” says Prime Minister Modi.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the nation, the submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connecting Andaman & Nicobar (A&N) Islands to the mainland.
With the laying of 2,300 Kms of submarine cable, the service has been launched on a major chunk of the islands from Chennai to Port Blair, Port Blair to Little Andaman and Port Blair to Swaraj Island. The submarine cable will help Andaman & Nicobar in getting cheaper and better connectivity and all the benefits of Digital India, especially in improving online education, tele-medicine, banking system, online trading and in boosting tourism.
After Andaman and Nicobar islands, in the next 1,000 days, Lakshadweep will also be connected to submarine optical fiber cable to the mainland, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Narendra Modi also announced Health ID under National Digital Health Mission whereby every Indian will be given a Health ID. Health ID will have all data related to all every disease that the person has, tests conducted, reports generated and doctor’s prescription for medicines and others.
Of the 40 crore Jan Dhan accounts opened in the country, about 22 crore accounts are of women only. At the time of Corona, in April-May-June, about Rs. 30,000 crores have been directly transferred to the accounts of women in these three months thanks to the JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile) trinity which is extensively focusing on financial inclusion.
In the long run, today’s Digital India announcements will help India to leapfrog its economy in a big way.
