Delhi Govt. Free WiFi to give 15 GB/month

The Delhi Government’s Free WiFi project is planning to give 15 GB/month or 1.5 GB/day to citizens of Delhi whichever is earlier.

Each user shall get minimum 1.3 Mbps at any time when connected. The user idle for more than 10 minutes shall be auto disconnected with a warning message of 30 second. In case, if there is more than 150 concurrent requests for connection, the user with maximum connected time shall be disconnected first but no user should be denied connection.

The Delhi Government is planning to deploy around 11,000 hotspots throughout Delhi which includes bus stops, public parks, areas near hospitals, mohalla clinics, dispensaries, colleges etc. Initially, 2,000 WiFi hotspots will be deployed in 30 days, followed by another 2,200 WiFi hotspots each at regular interval of 15 days so that the project gets completed in 90 days timeframe.

Timeline for Completion of Delhi Govt. Free WiFi Project:

  • Providing installation, testing and commissioning of at least 2,000 hotspots – 30 days
  • Providing installation, testing and commissioning of another 2,200 hotspots – 45 days
  • Providing installation, testing and commissioning of another 2,200 hotspots – 60 days
  • Providing installation, testing and commissioning of another 2,200 hotspots – 75 days
  • Providing installation, testing and commissioning of another 2,400 hotspots – 90 days

As per the tender document, the project will be completed in 90 days with different time slabs and estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 97.55 crore. Companies participating in the tender should have an average financial turnover of Rs. 48.77 crore for 3 consecutive financial years and should have Class A or Class B ISP license.

The company participating in the tender should have completed 8,800 access points during last 7 years and should have done 3 similar work each of value not less than Rs. 39.02 crore; 2 similar work each of value not less than Rs. 58.53 crore; and one similar work each of value not less than Rs. 78.04 crore.

The last date of submission of tender is September 7, 2019.
