AP Govt. launches Agri-Input delivery centres

The department of agriculture, Govt of Andhra Pradesh has launched Rythu Bharosa Kendra (RBK) for delivering agri-inputs to farmers.

Rythu Bharosa Kendra is powered by [x]cube’s retail innovation platform “Nukkad Shops”. The kendra aim is to give the farmers access to quality agricultural products by setting up multiple kendras across villages throughout the state.

The stores will be entirely owned and operated by the government and serviced by around 65 hubs at the mandal level. The farmers can connect with the initiative through an app or digital kiosk and place the orders of their choice of products such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides and get the products within 24-48 hours.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, inaugurated the initiative and held a video conference with over 5 lakh farmers from 10,000+ locations in Andhra Pradesh. The launch program was attended by various state government dignitaries and the partner team from [x]cube LABS along with other stakeholders.

In this initiative, smart TVs will be used to conduct training for farmers through videos on crop/pest management aspects, arranging live interaction with the scientists to address their problems.

Bringing over 15 different stakeholders under one platform, the RBK program, with its innovative and comprehensive approach is the first establishment of its kind for rural farmers and a major step towards strengthening the agriculture extension system. The program is considering the expansion of its features and functionalities to offer a wider range of services to farmers such as: information dissemination through digital kiosks; market intelligence; weather & pest forecasting; technology videos on crops; and relevant localized information.
